To save time and cost, some of the texts published on this site are translated with the help of machine-translation software Power Translator .

We propose three qualities of translation.

Level 0: Raw machine translation, as it is delivered by the translation program.

- Advantage: speed of translation (about 50 words / minute).

- Disadvantage: some mistranslations, and syntax and grammar mistakes.

è Level 0 delivers a gist translation very quickly, making it possible to understand what it is about (and to decide whether such or such a document or passage deserves, or requires, a translation of better quality).

Level 1: Translation corrected solely for mistranslations, but leaving grammar and syntax mistakes.

- Advantage: a certain speed of translation (about 28 words / minute) without any risk of mistranslation.

- Disadvantage: "heavy" reading.

è Level 1 is useful to provide fast information in another language. It allows recipients to be able, in particular, to react to a document in a very brief period of time.

Level 2: Thoroughly corrected translation, without no attempt to adapt the style to the target language.

- Advantages: No reading problem, good, adequate result.

- Disadvantages: More translation time (about 12 words / minute), translation a bit literal.

è Level 2 offers an adequate translation quality. The result makes it possible to have translations available, quickly enough and at a very reasonable cost, for "internal" circulation.

For reference: A human translation, the quality, or "publication quality," of which remains irreplaceable, takes about 4 words / minute.

THE ENGLISH VERSION OF THIS SHORT TEXT IS TRANSLATED TO LEVEL 2.
